National Infrastructure BankI think I have heard about it before, kind of, but I heard Sen Kerry talk on Morning Joe(MSNBC) this morning and it sounded like a good idea if done right. It would have to be done without the politicians being in control of it, or at least direct control, cause it seems like lately they can screw anything up royally....Given the chance it sounds like it would be a good way to put people back to work, rebuild our infrastructure...roads, bridges, power grid, high speed rail...whatever. There must be downsides to it to that I haven't yet thought of, but I'm sure alot of others have thought of the pitfalls associated with creating such a thing... Maybe we need to do away with the Bush tax cuts too, hopefully just for the well to do, but if not, then for all, to get some revenues going into the coffers. My thoughts on the country and worldFirst things first...I think that there should be pipelines for water throughout this country, share and share alike. I am in the northwest and we get plenty of rain, I'm sure that the mid west could use it, same for the south. If there were catchment systems in various places...say in North Dakota, when they had the flooding up there, texas could have used some of that water, as could Nebraska and Oklahoma. They could have numerous places to have those and pipelines going everywhich where to spread the water around...they already have pipelines everywhere for oil and NG, at least this wouldn't be as hazardous. I also think there needs to be high speed rail across this country..but that's another subject. Africa, where they are having severe drought...why can't they drill wells? Is there no water under the desert? Anywhere? If they could drill wells to get water, plant some trees, maybe make a forest for a quarter of the country or less, it might change the ecosystem a little bit and they would start to get some rain here and there. There must be things like that that could be done to make some of these places a little more self sufficient. Is that too unreasonable? Of course who are we to talk...we can't even agree on little things like the debt and all of that. Debt ceiling raises that happened it seems without any issues, are now big issues because one side wants the other to fail so bad.
